Synopsis:
Mahesh, a 10-year old, nature loving village boy, shares a deep and unbreakable bond of friendship with a majestic Peepal tree. After the tragic and unexpected death of his father, Mahesh is compelled to leave his village and move to the city, leaving behind everything he holds dear, including his beloved tree. As he tearfully bids farewell, he makes a heartfelt promise to the Peepal tree that one day, he will return, buy the surrounding land, and protect the tree forever.
Years pass, and Mahesh grows into a successful man, seemingly distanced from his village roots. One day, he stumbles upon a faded childhood drawing of the Peepal tree, reigniting memories of his past and the promise he once made to his friend, the Peepal tree. Overwhelmed by a sense of duty and nostalgia, Mahesh decides to return to his village to fulfill his promise. Will he be able to reunite with his friend, and keep his vow?

महेश, 10 वर्षीय, प्रकृति प्रेमी गाँव का लड़का, एक विशाल पीपल के पेड़ से गहरी और अटूट दोस्ती का संबंध साझा करता है। अपने पिता की दुखद और अप्रत्याशित मृत्यु के बाद, महेश को मजबूरन अपना गाँव छोड़कर शहर जाना पड़ता है, जहाँ वह अपने प्रिय पेड़ सहित, अपने सभी प्रियजनों को पीछे छोड़ देता है। विदाई लेते समय, आँसुओं से भरे दिल के साथ वह पीपल के पेड़ से वादा करता है कि एक दिन वह वापस आएगा, आसपास की जमीन खरीदेगा और उस पेड़ की हमेशा रक्षा करेगा।

साल बीत जाते हैं, और महेश एक सफल व्यक्ति बन जाता है, जो अपने गाँव की जड़ों से दूर होता प्रतीत होता है। एक दिन, उसे अपना बचपन का एक धुंधला चित्र मिलता है, जो पीपल के पेड़ का होता है। यह चित्र उसके अतीत और उस वादे की यादें ताज़ा कर देता है, जो उसने कभी अपने दोस्त, पीपल के पेड़ से किया था। अतीत की यादों और कर्तव्यबोध से भरा हुआ, महेश अपने वादे को पूरा करने के लिए गाँव लौटने का निर्णय करता है। क्या वह अपने पुराने दोस्त से फिर मिल पाएगा और अपना वादा निभा पाएगा?

==Director’s Biography ==

Ganesh Hanmantrao Chowgule is an Indian filmmaker, screenwriter, and producer based in Pune. With a strong academic foundation, he completed his post-graduation in philosophy, which deeply influences his perspective on life and art. Ganesh initially worked in the education sector, contributing his skills and knowledge to the field. However, his unwavering passion for cinema inspired him to pursue filmmaking, allowing him to express his creative vision through film. His journey into the world of cinema began with his debut short film, "Peepal," which showcases his talent for capturing human experiences and emotions on screen.

Director Statement

The inspiration for this film is deeply rooted in my personal experiences. I grew up in a small village with a large peepal tree that was a significant part of my childhood. Unfortunately, that tree, like many others, was cut down by some villagers. Witnessing this loss deeply saddens me, not just because it happened in my village, but because it reflects a larger problem happening across our country and the world. We are cutting down billions of trees, leading us down a path of environmental destruction. Through this film, I aim to raise awareness about the urgent need to address this issue. My goal is to highlight the environmental challenges we face and inspire people to unite in protecting our planet. As someone actively involved in environmental work, I am dedicated to planting trees and contributing to conservation efforts.
